do international students need to take SAT test to study in the US?

hi im from canada and i graduated from high school. i was wondering if i needed to take an SAT test to study in the US or if they accepted our Provincial exam tests?
or say i was to study here in canada at a college for a year would i still need to take the sat test? or would they just look at my college grades?
