The Kings Point Promise: How to Get There - Admissions

Barney Garcia asked:

A life with education at King’s Point, The United States Merchant Marine Academy’s base, is strife with activity, adventure and fun, a lot of learning, multi cultural experience and a training regime which only death can make it easier. It promises deliverance of knowledge, skills and the attitude that are expected of a leader in the fiercely competitive world tomorrow.

The maritime Industry and the Armed Forces in General have the promising careers and lucrative future the cadets look for, after graduating out of the academy. The options a cadet gets to choose from are multitudinous and it’s just a matter of asking for what suits one, the best.

Getting there might not be easy, but having got there, an aspiring cadet would certainly have something to write home about. The Academy, like its sister service academies has stringent regulations and check in place to be able to get the best of the applying lot in. A nomination from an approved official is mandatory on top of other common requirements like fairly high mental aptitude, especially in maths, sciences and engineering. The candidate must also be of a high moral character, aged 17-25, unmarried and having no obligation towards any dependents. One must also exhibit high levels of competency in physical and mental acuity and produce college transcripts, notwithstanding the high requirements of SAT scores and the like. The cadet also should have had experience in servicing the humanity at some point previously.

Like in all other military academies, the aspiring cadet also has to go through a physical examination called a CFP (Candidate Fitness Assessment). He also has to produce college transcripts, a high score in SAT tests and other such tests one would have administered during academics. A high level of physical prowess is also required and goes without saying that the candidate must have an active interest in current affairs and Sports.

The King’s Point experience blends a rich cultural experience with Military precision learning and training experience for about 4 years. The King’s Point Graduates are in demand everywhere for having been through that particular level of training. They also come with an experience of camaraderie with fellow cadets belong to every imaginable race, culture and values. It does a venerable job of qualifying young and ambitious men and women to rise up to the cause of humanity by rendering service to the nation, the people and the humanity.

Tutorbene asked:

FAMILIARIZATION WITH THE PATTERN:

No assessment is predictable; yet sustained practice helps one get familiar with the pattern. Regular practice gives an examinee an insight into the topics he is adept at. Certain topics give you a high comfort level ensuring a high score in that particular segment and a time management advantage for the other formidable sections. Unrelenting effort at Tutorbene helps hone the examinees skills in this direction.

SKIP A QUESTION:

Time management is an imperative skill for an aspirant along with a capacity for self assessment. A taxing question that impinges into the time of the other questions is best left unanswered.

 VIVID VOCABULRY:

An expansive & extensive vocabulary is virtual prerequisite for a SAT aspirant. The comprehension section, the reading section and the freeform essay writing demand an expertise of the language that equals that of a native speaker of the language.

PLANNING & ORGANIZATION:

Targets and goals that are exacting but achievable are vital for an examinee. Setting a goal and achieving the desired results at the end of the stipulated time helps in accomplishing the requisite preparation along with cracking real life assessments.

PRECISION:

Qualitative work has the trademarks of accuracy & precision. Rigorous practice with a focus of excellence reaps the desired results in preferential placement options. Two months prior to the assessment the winning strategies should have taken final shape as a measure of guarantee of the impending success.

 TIME MANAGEMENT:

The SAT paper is designed in a manner that the difficulty level moves in an ascending order. Hence, the trick is to spend less time on the initial questions and focusing the energy and strength on the latter part of the paper.

ADVANTAGE “TUTORBENE”:

Continuous research by the expert faculty of Tutorbene has helped them to evolve the test methodology and they have guided and mentored a number of successful SAT aspirants.  The time is apt to kick start your preparations for the first major step towards your higher education and career.
